A month of fundraising

September has been a fantastic month of fundraising for Joshua, with huge thanks going to Tamsin Bradley, Berry Butler and Good Luck to Nikki Lee.

Last weekend Tamsin Bradley ran the Stockholm 1/2 Marathon for Joshua and raised a fantastic £310. Her motivation?

a. She wanted to go to Stockholm
b. She's turning 40
c. She wants to get fit

And as she was covering the cost of the Marathon she thought she would raise some money for Joshua at the same time - Thank you Tamsin!

Berry Butler, one of Joshua's trustees, held a cracking Golf day, with the Rotary Club of Coulsdon, at the Surry Downs Golf Club in aid of Joshua this month. Golfers stared their day with a warm cup of coffee and a bacon buttie before hitting the course in some brilliant sunshine. With a slideshow from Malawi playing all day everyone was reminded how fortunate they are and the day raised £900 - Thank you Berry for you fantastic efforts and thanks to everyone who teed off on the day.

Good luck to Nikki Lee whose fashion fundraiser for Joshua and Save the Children is this Sunday

Joshua's 2011 Marathon Team!

Danny McDonnell - Wales Marathon
"I'm excited and really quite honoured to run my first ever marathon for Joshua. 26.2 miles of beautiful Welsh countryside to help raise money for such a good cause sounds like a bargain I reckon! I first heard about the charity through my girlfriend Ella, she volunteered with Joshua in 2005, infact we hope to go to Malawi in October, as long as my pins survive the run!"
Hometown: Epsom: Epsom, Surrey
Favorite energy food: Bananas and more bananas, and then maybe some more.

Hayley Atherton - London Marathon
"I'm running for Joshua, as my housemate , Eleni, who I've lived with for a few years now, went to Malawi last October on one of your building projects. Listening to her stories and seeing her pictures brings to life the good work the charity does, but also how much work there is to do and how many people there are that need support. Although it was an eye opening experience, I think it was one of the best experiences she has had, so I felt it was a great charity to raise money for."
Hometown: Purley, Croydon
Favourite energy food: Gummy Bears and Lucozade

George Rainsford - London Marathon
"I know Elizabeth Chapman who works with Joshua and have learned from her of the valuable work it does for orphans in Malawi. It is an honour to raise money for such a worthy cause and certainly a big incentive to pound the roads on an icey dark morning!"
Hometown: London
Favourite energy food: On my longer runs I hide jaffa cakes in the bushes for half way round!

Fi Stevenson - Brighton Marathon
"I’m running (well, lightly jogging!) the Brighton marathon on 10 April for the lovely Joshua Orphan and Community Care. In October 2010 a group of us travelled with Joshua to a small village in southern Malawi, Khola. We helped to build a kitchen block and two long drop toilets to compliment the orphan feeding centre. It was an amazing experience, to work alongside the local community, so now I want to raise some more money for this fab little charity, so that it can continue its vital programme of education, health, feeding, water and income-generation projects to help the orphaned children of Malawi."
Home town - Bridgend, South Wales
Favourite energy food - chicken and bacon pasta
